West Ham and Aston Villa confirmed team news: David Moyes makes five changes and Emerson starts

West Ham United boss David Moyes has named his side to face Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Hammers will look to pick up their first win of the season in the Premier League when they take on Steven Gerrard’s side, who have picked up three points from their opening three Premier League games against Bournemouth, Everton and Crystal Palace.

As the Irons look to build on Thursday night’s 3-0 win over Viborg in Denmark, Moyes has made five changes to face Villa from the side that secured a place in the group stages of the Europa Conference League earlier this week.

Captain Declan Rice is back in midfield after missing the trip to Denmark through suspension. He starts next to Tomas Soucek in midfield with Manuel Lanzini dropping to the bench.

It looks like a back five for David Moyes, with Emerson making his debut for the Hammers and starting at left wing-back. Ben Johnson occupies the other wing-back role and Kurt Zouma is joined at centre-back by Thilo Kehrer and Aaron Cresswell.

After a midweek rest, Jarrod Bowen is back in the forward line and partners Pablo Fornals, with the duo starting behind Gianluca Scamacca up front, who is making his full league debut after scoring in both legs against Viborg.

Nayef Aguerd (ankle) remains sidelined until mid-October, while Craig Dawson (quad) also remains injured.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has made four changes from the side that lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League last weekend.

West Ham United starting XI: Lukasz Fabianski; Ben Johnson, Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma, Aaron Cresswell, Emerson; Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek; Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals; Gianluca Scamacca
