West FM announces new breakfast show presenters as schedule shake-up confirmed

One of Ayrshire's most popular radio stations have revealed their new presenter lineup.

The Hit Radio Network, which operates stations across Scotland has announced its plans, including a brand-new breakfast show for West FM after comedian Billy Kirkwood announced yesterday he will be departing later this month.

West FM’s Breakfast’s current co-host Ali Wright will be taking over as main presenter of the show with Michael Smith joining her as co-host.

Michael is familiar to the West FM listeners having worked at the station for many years before taking up a role with their Cash for Kids team supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children across Ayrshire.

After six years hosting breakfast, Billy has decided to leave to join Bring it On Talent Management.

Elsewhere on the Hits Radio Network, the late evening show is now hosted by Amber Livingstone, following Meg McHugh’s departure earlier this month.

Starting her career at Clyde 1 after attending a Bauer Academy course, Amber has held many roles across the business including street team, co-host and traffic reporter, but now returns to host her very first network show.

Ali Wright said: “I can’t wait to get started with Michael and have our fantastic Ayrshire listeners join us each weekday for loads of brilliant music and throwbacks, life changing competitions and of course plenty of laughs and nonsense too!

"A massive thank you to Billy Kirkwood who I have learnt so much from over the last six years and really enjoyed working with.”

Speaking about her new show, Amber Livingstone said: “I am over the moon to return to the Hits Radio Network with my own show. I love late night radio and I particularly love our throwbacks, because I can sing and dance in the studio every night to the biggest tunes!"

Ali & Michael In The Morning’s first show is at 6am on Monday, October 31.
