West End's Frozen actress Samantha Barks welcomes a son - and reveals the newborn's name

West End star Samantha Barks has announced that she has welcomed a baby boy with her husband Alex Stoll.

The Frozen actress has announced that her son was born on Monday, sharing a black and white snap of her son’s hand on Instagram.

Barks said her “heart could burst with happiness” as she revealed the newborn’s name in her caption.

She wrote: “Welcome Rafael Richard Barks-Stoll, born October 16. My heart could burst with happiness.”

Her post was filled with congratulatory messages.

Alan Carr, who will appear alongside her as a judge on ITV's Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, wrote: “Wow! Amazing!!! Congratulations my darling.”

The talent search show's host Zoe Ball added: "Congratulations beautiful mama. Sending all the love."

Daisy Lowe commented: "Oh what a joy!! Congratulations to you & your gorgeous family xxx Sending all our love xxx".

While Amanda Holden sent several heart-eyed emojis in response to the news.

Barks announced she and her husband were expecting their first child together in August.

Taking to Instagram at the time, she posted a video of her west highland terrier Ivy's paws covering an ultrasound image of their child before revealing the picture to the camera.

In December the actress, who has recently performed her final Frozen show as Elsa, helped surprise an eight-year-old girl at Wembley's OVO Arena who had gone viral after singing Let It Go from a Ukrainian bomb shelter.

Amelia Anisovych gained global attention last year when she was filmed singing the hit Disney song during Ukraine’s conflict with Russia.

After appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and Lorraine with her mother, Lilia, since the viral moment, Amelia will also be part of The National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash.

As a surprise, she was joined on stage by Barks and Anna actress Emily Lane. Amelia appeared shocked and excited to sing a rendition of Let It Go with the West End stars in front of an audience of 8,000.
