Work to restore and refurbish the Clydebank Town Hall and Alexandria Library are almost complete, West Dunbartonshire council officials have said.
Redecoration is still to be completed in stairwells and galleries at the Clydebank Town Hall, which has been subject to major renovation works, while work on the Alexandria Library is expected to finish later this week.
A planning application has also been submitted to the council for the redesign of the Dalmuir Gallery, while the council is working with the West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust to finalise refurbishment plans.
An update was brought before a special cultural committee meeting this morning.
Michelle Lynn, assets coordinator, said: “The additional painting work which was still to be carried out in some office accommodation and the stairwells has recommenced with building services.
“In July work will start to amend the lighting in the gallery which was previously approved by this committee.
“Other items which are still outstanding in the chamber areas are the replacement hearth which is being fitted tomorrow.”
“Previously the working group had asked about [painting] the bridal room and redecoration should be done next week following the work to the office accommodation which will be completed this week.”
Chairman Baillie Denis Agnew said he was glad to hear this news and asked for an update on refurbishment progress at the Dalmuir Gallery, Denny Theatre and Alexandria Library.
Councillor Agnew said: “Most of the work there should be complete except for the Dalmuir one as that is a big undertaking and work shall be done in the future. This committee approved the need for work to be carried out on these and I would just like to know is it all going to plan?”
Ms Lynn confirmed that work on Alexandria Library will be complete this week and handed over to the service.
She added: "In relation to [the redesign of] Dalmuir Gallery planning permission has been submitted and in terms of the Denny Civic space, which is run by the leisure trust, we are working with them to finalise refurbishment plans.”
