Cornwall has no shortage of absolutely stunning bars and restaurants that boast huge outdoor seating areas, gardens, and sun traps that lure the masses in for a few drinks in the summer sun.
Although we have been sizzling in sweltering temperatures, the British summer is known to be erratic and the sunshine is never guaranteed. It’s important to make the most of the sun when it makes an appearance.
No matter what your personal preferences, there are plenty of places that offer a pretty incredible beer garden, but there is one which has been named as the best in the whole of the UK.
Based on a long list of criteria, The Watering Hole in Perranporth has taken the crown in the Big 7 Travel annual list of the best beer gardens. The criteria points cover everything from previous critic reviews to consistency. The best places are ranked using nine criteria points including online reviews, value for money, atmosphere and service, and location and accessibility.
Big travel 7 says: “At The Watering Hole, punters don’t just get a beer garden, they get a beer beach. The bar, restaurant and live music venue sit smack-bang in the middle of Perranporth’s golden sands, making it the UK’s only bar on the beach.
“The venue has become famous for its various live music events featuring line-ups from local emerging artists and big names like Jools Holland and The Sugarhill Gang.”
As the UK’s only bar on a beach, there’s no wonder why The Watering Hole has won the crown.
Almost 50 years ago (1978) a man called Bob Job opened a shack on the stunning beach, roaming the Perranporth coast with deck-chairs, surf hire and ice cream vans. What is now The Watering Hole was passed on to Bob after its previous owner Bill moved to Australia. Bob revolutionised it into what it is now, and thousands flock to the venue every year.
Their calendar is full of events all year round.
