Tourists at a West Country beach were left in tears at an unbelievably kind gesture. Visitors to Exmouth Beach were left heartbroken after dog owners were encouraged to help themselves to a free ball.
The mystery person behind the kind act explained in a note that they'd recently lost the "goodest of good boys" and his favourite place had been Exmouth Beach where he enjoyed playing with his ball, reports Devon Live. Along with the note was a large box filled with tennis balls.
The note read: "Rex loved the beach, Rex loved the ball. Please feel free to take a ball for your dog and I hope you all enjoy this place as much as we did."

"Rex - sleep well, my ginger prince." An additional note read: "The goodest of good boys."
Devon County Council posted a photo of the box and the note to Twitter. In the tweet they said: "A lovely gesture on Exmouth beach." Reacting to the gesture, one person wrote: "So nice.. but so sad, thankyou Rex."
Conservative MP for East Devon Simon Jupp said: "This is truly heartwarming." A third person commented: "Lovely, and sad, in equal measures."
And a fourth wrote: "I’m not crying, you’re crying. On my way to scoop up my own favourite blonde boy to take him to the beach."
Last week, beachgoers were urged not to panic if they spotted the sea looking green. The water at Exmouth Beach transformed into a green or yellow as part of testing by South West Water.
It followed concerns from the local community over reports of sewage being dumped in the water. While tests have confirmed that the 'sewage' was actually rotten seaweed and unrelated to South West Water's infrastructure, the company carried out a dye test in a bid to reassure locals.
