West Coast draftee Clay Hall has been sent for scans on a lower left leg injury sustained during the AFL club's internal practice match.
Hall was helped off the field by trainers at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday after he was hurt in a tackle from Eagles veteran Elliot Yeo.
The 18-year-old midfielder appears set for a stint on the sidelines.
"It is definitely heartbreaking to see because he's been super, super impressive for an 18-year-old around the ball," West Coast defender Jayden Hunt told reporters.
"He's also the last couple of weeks exploded out of stoppage, which is so good to see.
"I know he'll be pretty disappointed, but fingers crossed it's not too bad."
Peel Thunder product Hall, the son of 76-game former Eagles and Geelong forward Derek Hall, was selected by West Coast with pick 38 at last year's draft.
His setback continues a disastrous run of injuries for West Coast over the last two years, in which they have managed a total of just five wins.
The Eagles' woes have continued into 2024, with Liam Ryan set for a delayed start to the season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring tendon.
Jack Darling and Tim Kelly have also battled hamstring issues, while fellow senior star Dom Sheed is no certainty to be fit to play in round one because of a foot injury.
Injury-riddled Yeo has managed no more than a dozen games in any of the past four seasons, but is fit again and has impressed over summer.
The 30-year-old is on track to feature against Port Adelaide in the Eagles' season opener on March 17.
"I've never really seen a Yeoy like that on my team," former Melbourne speedster Hunt said after the intra-club match.
"He was a bit injured last year but again he has just been absolutely dominating, so I'm so excited to be alongside him."
