West Brom to sign Andy Carroll - what transfer deals Nottingham Forest rivals are doing

Nottingham Forest's play-off rivals are looking to make a last ditch push to sign players as they attempt to gain promotion.

The Reds transfer business has so far including the signing of Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis on loan until the end of the season.

Forest also signed defenders Steve Cook and Richie-Laryea as well as reaching an agreement with Middlesbrough to extend Djed Spence's loan spell at the club until the end of the season.

Steve Cooper has overseen a remarkable turn around at the City Ground since replacing Chris Hughton in September last year.

The former Swansea boss has lifted Forest from the foot of the Championship table to being just a point off the play-offs.

But Cooper's side face fierce competition if they are to finish the season inside the top six as their play-off rivals are looking to strengthen their squads in the final days of the January window.

One of those sides is West Brom who currently sit three points ahead of Forest in fifth.

The Baggies are set to complete the signing of former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll as a replacement for the injured Daryl Dike before the transfer window slams shut on Monday.

The ex-England international has recently been playing for Reading on a short-term deal scoring two goals in eight games.

Huddersfield, who sit directly above Forest in the table in sixth, have so far not brought in any new additions to their squad.

The Terriers have been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Morgan Rogers, who is currently on-loan at play-off rivals Bournemouth. Forest have also been credited with an interest.

The Cherries are currently third, six points ahead of Forest, and are looking to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Ben Rothwell after having a £2m bid rejected according to Dorest Live.

Elsewhere, Queen's Park Rangers who sit in fourth are also looking to add to their squad before the window closes having so far completed deals to sign goalkeeper David Marshall and defender Dion Sanderson.

Speaking to the clubs official website, QPR boss Mark Warburton said: “Hopefully we can get one or two more done.

“I hope we’re close – but I don’t want to tempt fate."

Forest are next in action on Sunday away at Cardiff City knowing that a win could take them into the top six if other results go their way.
