West Belfast Christmas lights switch-on postponed due to weather forecast

The West Belfast Christmas tree lights switch-on has been postponed due to Tuesday night's bad weather forecast .

Féile an Phobail , who organise the event, shared the news on their Twitter feed on Monday afternoon.

They wrote: "The West Belfast Christmas Tree lights switch-on has been moved to this Wednesday, December 11, at 6pm.

"There is bad weather forecast for Tuesday evening so we have moved the event by one night to Wednesday."

Among those scheduled to attend the event are Packy Lee , actor from the hit BBC drama Peaky Blinders, as well as Lord Mayor John Finucane, West Belfast MP Paul Maskey, and - of course - Santa Claus, The Grinch, and Elsa and Anna from Frozen.

The event will still take place inside the fenced area where the former Andersonstown Barracks was‬.

Féile an Phobail have confirmed that there will be no traffic arrangements or closures ahead of the event - but it's advised getting down early to avoid disappointment.
