Wesley Fofana makes his Leicester feelings clear with James Maddison reaction amid Chelsea plea

Wesley Fofana has made his feelings clear on his Leicester City future with what he has done at the King Power Stadium during the 2-1 defeat to Southampton.

The 21-year-old was left completely out of the squad, a decision that was made by Brendan Rodgers as Chelsea transfer speculation continues to ramp up. "One, a change in system," Rodgers said via Football Daily when asked why he and Arsenal target Youri Tielemans has been left out.

"And two, I mentioned it in the week about coming into a Premier League game with players that maybe aren't quite in the right frame of mind. You cannot carry them and certainly we can't, so yes that is the reason."

Despite being able to keep his focus for the Foxes' first two fixtures against Brentford and Arsenal, the Fofana may becoming frustrated with the hardball stance that Leicester are taking in this situation.

football.london understands that Todd Boehly has had two bids up to the £70million mark that have been knocked back and have been told that a world-record deal will only be done on Leicester's terms as they want to hold on to the France World Cup hopeful for one more season.

But with that tournament fast approaching in less than 100 days time, Fofana appears to want a bigger step up in order to make a statement to Didier Deschamps ahead of the France squad selection.

In the meantime, whilst fans and the player alike wait for developments on this deal, the French defender was able to watch on from the stands to see Leicester take on Southampton.

With 54 minutes on the clock, James Maddison sent the King Power Stadium into raptures with his wonderful free-kick goal to open up the scoring. The only person alongside the away fans who didn't celebrate was Fofana.

@stulcfc tweeted: 'Fofana overjoyed at Maddison's goal just now.'

Che Adams' double capped off a difficult week for Rodgers, who will continue to face the Fofana questions over the little time left of this 2022 summer transfer window.
