Wesley Fofana grows frustrated as Chelsea ramp up Anthony Gordon transfer interest

Wesley Fofana is growing increasingly frustrated at Leicester City's stance over the defender moving to Chelsea. football.london understands the 21-year-old feels like the Foxes are trying to price him out of a move to the Blues by requesting a world-record fee for his services.

Fofana has already agreed personal terms over a move to Chelsea, but the Blues have seen two offers – with the highest being around £70million – turned down by Leicester. Chelsea are expected to submit a third bid in the region of £80m for Fofana and have growing confidence that it will be accepted by their Premier League rivals.

Brendan Rodgers has claimed all summer-long that Fofana is not for sale, but his stance slightly softened last week when asked about the Frenchman. Rodgers said: "Naturally, if there is an interest from other clubs, then that is looked at by the club.

"But he's a top, top young defender. There's not too many about at his age. He's someone we'd love to keep here, but we'll have to wait and see what develops."

Chelsea will be hoping Fofana's irritation with Leicester will persuade the club to sell their prized asset as we approach the final weeks of the summer transfer window. football.london have been reporting over the last week that Fofana is pushing for a move away from Leicester internally.

The Blues are also in talks with Everton to sign attacker Anthony Gordon. football.london understands Chelsea saw a bid – around £45m – turned down by the Toffees. Everton are insistent they will not entertain any offers for Gordon.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will test Everton's resolve once again with a new and improved bid. Gordon is understood to want the move to Stamford Bridge before next month's transfer deadline.

Also, the Blues remain in talks with Barcelona over duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong, but progress on the pair has been slow. Chelsea have received no indication that either would be keen on moving to Stamford Bridge this summer despite Barcelona's willingness to sell.
