Harry Kane scored on his first start for Bayern in his Bundesliga debut following his £100million move from Tottenham. The England captain had not played for a club other than Spurs for over a decade until his maiden outing in the German Super Cup ended in a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig last week.
Bayern were big favourites to grab the win in over Werder however, as they began their defence of the Bundesliga title. Kane was named in the starting line-up, spearheading a star-studded line-up which included Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane.
Thomas Tuchel spoke of Kane’s “immediate impact” on the Bayern dressing room ahead of the game at Weserstadion and he showed why with an early assist for Sane before a goal on the 74th minute. Late strikes for Sane and substitute Mathys Tel sealed a 4-0 win.
