Wembley could host every England game at Euro 2028 as joint hosts eye home draws

England could play all their Euro 2028 matches at Wembley after the UK and Ireland were confirmed as joint tournament hosts.

The Three Lions will stage 28 of the 51 matches, including both semi-finals and the final at Wembley.

UEFA will have the final say on the match schedule, but the host nations will have the chance to lobby to play games at their national stadiums.

England have a strong case to play their matches at Wembley given the commercial and logistical benefits of doing so.

A final decision on the match schedule for Euro 2028 will not be discussed until after next summer’s Euros, when the qualification process for the tournament will be decided.

Under current UEFA regulations, two countries can automatically qualify for the Euros, typically the host(s).

In this case, however, all five host nations want to go through qualifying, with two spots held in reserve for those who fail to make it. If more than two fail, then the ones with the best records will progress.

“It is hard to get a number of friendlies and we think the games are better for the players, so we are happy to take part in it,” said FA chief executive Mark Bullingham.
