We’ve all been there. You approach a busy roundabout with someone else in the passenger seat and before you know it you’re arguing and bickering about which exit to take as the traffic around you adds to the stress. For two Welsh sisters, their exasperation at tackling one of Wales’ most notorious roundabouts has gone viral thanks to a passenger in the back of the car capturing their hilarious squabble and uploading it to the social media platform TikTok.
While you can’t make out the layout of the road and the scale of the confusion from the footage, the car was in fact trying to navigate Ynysforgan Roundabout on the outskirts of Swansea. You can read how it's often left people confused here. The two sisters, Gill and Fay, together with Gill’s daughter Alice, were on a trip to Asda in Llansamlet just before Christmas. The clip, entitled ‘Eventful day shopping’ has been heavily shared and watched on TikTok and generated hundreds of comments, mostly from people finding the conversation happening in the front of the car hilarious. In the sweary video, one of the sisters is heard shouting “we would have been in f****** Clydach if we were going down there”. When asked “Why Clydach?”, the woman replies “well that’s the next f****** turning off."

She is then asked “do you know where I’ve got to go now?”, to which she responds: “Yes! Down the f****** roundabout and down there.....that’s the main big roundabout, we’ve got to go round it and back down there.” It’s suggested by one of the sisters that even if they had taken a wrong turn, they could have just turned around further down the road and that not all would be lost. However, the other sister soon pours scorn on that “bulls***” suggestion by shouting “you can’t f****** come back though, you gotta stay on there like a motorway!”
Calls of “shut up” and “f****** hell” can then be heard, all while Alice, still filming the scene from the backseat, is in a fit of giggles. The clip finishes with one of the women in the front saying “see, I could have come off over there”, before her sister answers back with “you can’t mun, you’ve got to go straight you dull t***”.
Alice White, the person heard giggling uncontrollably in the back, said when the car reached its destination in Llansamlet, the first thing she did was show the video to her mother and auntie, who had no idea their heated chat about directions had been filmed. Far from being annoyed, however, they found the whole thing hilarious.
“They’ve made a pact recently to go on weekly outings together, and I just happened to be with them that day,” said Alice. “They’re very close and when I played the video back to them they were creased with laughter. They had no idea I was filming it. I wasn’t going to share it online initially but my family said I should!”
