A beautiful campsite with wooden cabins on the doorstep of Snowdonia National Park has been named the best campsite for families in the UK. Tyn-yr-Onnen Farm and Campsite in Gwynedd beat off competitors to win the national award for the best family campsite, as well as the award for the best site for outdoors activities in this year's Campsites.co.uk camping and glamping awards.
Rated 4.86 out of 5 stars on the website, the traditional Welsh sheep farm has "spacious pitches and cosy pods", and visitors can enjoy panoramic views while getting close to adorable farm animals. The site is also close to beaches, Zip World, Surf Snowdonia and the Welsh Highland Steam Railway - and if you fancy immersing yourself in Welsh history, you can visit nearby Caernarfon or Beaumaris Castle.
Meanwhile Powys' Cwmdu Campsite, a four-star campsite with log cabins and a shepherd's hut nestled in a secluded valley in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, was named Wales' best campsite in the Campsites.co.uk awards.

Rated 4.83 our of 5 stars on the website, Cwmdu Campsite is described as the "perfect camping location". It's easy to see why, as there's something for all types of campers. Keen hikers have the Beacons and Black Mountains on their doorstep, with Pen-y-Fan just a 15 minute walk away. But if you fancy a more laidback stay, there's a pub and cafe within just 300m. You can also get to the market town of Crickhowell or Greenman Festival in just five minutes, or the town of Abergavenny in 15.
The four-acre campsite itself opened in 1964 and today has over 100 grass and hardstanding pitches, attracting visitors from all over the world. The owners encourage campfires in fire-pits off the ground, with fire wood available on site.
There are two dog-friendly glamping "Log Pods" that sleep up to four people and have a double bed, electricity and other amenities like furniture and a mini fridge. Meanwhile, the Shepherd's Hut sleeps up to three people, featuring a double sofa bed, fridge, kettle, table and decking area.
On-site shared utilities include toilets, free hot water showers, a laundry room, washing up facilities and a shop selling camping essential snacks and food staples. There is also a microwave, sheltered picnic area and Wi-Fi.
The campsites were among a host from Wales to win awards in a selection of both UK-wide and wales-wide categories. You can see the full list below...
