Welsh rock band 'Paisley Parc' to play Lanarkshire charity gig

Welsh rock band Paisley Parc are set to travel north to play two gigs in aid of Lanarkshire children's charity Blameless and Hamilton Accies Elite Youth Academy.

The five-piece act will perform live at Saint Luke's, Glasgow, on Friday, March 4, before then taking to the stage at New Douglas Park the following day in a concert with a difference.

That's because the gig - to be held at the function suite of Hamilton Accies FC - will be a complete substance and alcohol-free event with Paisley Parc showcasing how they used instruments, music and song to break free from the adversities of addiction that so many have been plagued with in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil - a town not too dissimilar to Hamilton.

Hamilton Accies chief executive, Colin McGowan, helped bring the band to Scotland.

He told Lanarkshire Live : "The objective of these forthcoming gigs, as well as to showcase this magnificent band of remarkable young men, is to help raise money for Blameless.

"The funds will help it continue its work in helping the children caught up in the shadow of addiction and for our Youth Academy.

"Like Hamilton, Merthyr Tydfil is plagued with the disease of addiction but, against all odds, these five young men - Jack Mason, Ieuan Evans, Morgan Stubbs, Talyn Griffiths and Jack Jones - have broken free from the adversities they have already faced in their young lives and they share a vision, and that vision is simply to play their style of music across the globe."

The band's single, 'Lost', previously reached number one in the Australian indie radio charts and their latest soon to be released single, 'Mean Streets', tells a hard-hitting story of life in the streets of Merthyr Tydfil.

Prior to the gig it is hoped to arrange a friendly football match between Hamilton Accies and a Welsh side.

Tickets for the Saint Lukes gig, located in Gallowgate in Glasgow’s east end, are only £15 with all proceeds going to Blameless, and are available to buy online.

Or for tickets for the Hamilton Accies Paisley Parc gig on March 5, priced at £10 which includes top DJ James Currie with all funds raised on this night going to Accies Youth Academy, please contact the stadium landline on 01698 368 650.
