A Welsh hotel has gone up for sale with the management team citing the "challenging economic conditions" for the decision. The Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel and Spa in Llangybi, near Usk, was bought by a leisure investment firm 10 years ago.
But in a statement on the hotel's Facebook page a statement said that "unsustainable" food and energy cost increased had made the business "sadly unviable".
Adding that they would remain open: "While seeking a buyer, we will continue to operate under license, managed by Lester Hotels Management Services Ltd."
"We would like to assure our customers that the hotel will operate our usual during this transitional period. Please continue to support us."
The team said they are contacting anyone with future bookings and assured couples who have weddings booked that they will have their "continued commitment".
The statement, which was signed by Simon Daniels and the team at the Cwrt Bleddyn, added: "We appreciate that this will create uncertainty particularly if you have a wedding booked with us but we can only assure you of our continued commitment to help you celebrate your big day in style at the Cwrt. Whilst we can't speak on behalf of any future owners, we hope that the long-held affection we have in the local community will enable us to continue to welcome guests long after a new buyer is found."
The hotel, which as a private manor house famously hosted two of Henry VIII’s wives as guests, is a popular wedding venue, and includes 45 en-suite bedrooms set in 50 acres.
