Welsh fly-half who shadowed Dan Biggar returns to play for new club in Wales after stint in France

Former Ospreys fly-half Luke Price has returned to Wales to play his rugby after a season in France.

The 26-year-old has joined Bridgend Ravens. Price, a former understudy to Dan Biggar at the Ospreys, left Welsh rugby to link with French club Valence Romans last summer.

But he split with them recently and has now headed for the Brewery Field, where he will link again with his former team-mate and new Bridgend head coach Tom Smith.

Price told the Bridgend Ravens website : “I’m excited to get started with Bridgend. There’s an ambitious group of boys here and a very experienced coaching group that want to do very well this season. I’m looking forward to the opportunity of being part of it this year and really think it’s a place I can improve as a player.”

Price played 64 times and scored 282 points for the Ospreys over seven seasons, shadowing Biggar and then vying with Sam Davies for the No. 10 jersey, and his new coach feels he will prove an excellent acquisition for Bridgend.

“We’re really happy we’ve been able to secure Luke’s services,” said Smith. “I’ve worked with him before, he’s a good bloke and somebody who has a great understanding of the game.

“His experience of playing in the pro game at the Ospreys and more recently in France will stand us in good stead.

"He’s already having a big impact in training, not only bringing a controlling voice but demanding high standards from the rest of the squad.

"He’s a great addition and someone who I think our young 10’s can learn a great deal from.”

Price has previously featured for Bridgend on permit, making two appearances in 2014.
