A Swansea cave features in a new Amazon Prime film. Filmed on location at the sea caves in Llangennith, Gower, Rewilding tells the story of a journalist looking into the Halloween rituals of a countryside village, and an author on the hunt for the grave of a 16th Century 'witch finder'.
Writer and director Ric Rawlings said: “I looked all over the UK for a beautiful sea cave but it was only in Llangennith that we found the perfect one. There are actually three or four along the shoreline there, but the one we used had a pristine, ancient atmosphere and quite a lot of space inside too.”
Following the film’s release, Rawlings added: “The film has already built up a big audience on Prime and I would love it if people began visiting Llangennith to find the haunted sea cave.”
As to why he wanted to create Rewilding, Rawlings said: “The film really comes out of an interest in friction between our pagan and Christian histories. Natural spaces like sea caves have seen hundreds, thousands of years come and go, so they’re the perfect locations for depicting ancient mysteries.”
The new film, which is available to watch now, stars John Matthews, Natasha Neckles, and Richard Chivers. It is Rawling’s first feature film.
As a writer, he has previously published Rise of the Super Furry Animals (2015) about the seminal Welsh band, and he's currently writing a new film about a river-dwelling vampire.
Rewilding is available to watch now on Amazon Prime. For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
