Welsh boxing talent Owain Harris-Allan claims bronze at Commonwealth Games aged just 18

Welsh boxing prospect Owain Harris-Allan claimed bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games aged just 18.

While gutted to have a rare off day when it mattered most on Saturday, the teenage talent believes a bronze medal in the men's bantamweight semi-finals can accelerate his fighting career beyond the 2022 Games.

Bantamweight Harris-Allan was outmuscled by Ghana’s Abraham Mensah, who won on a split decision to progress to the final.

Harris-Allan said: “I didn’t box my best and wasn’t as sharp as I could be. He turned up on the day but I’m going to move on and keep working hard to achieve my goals. I’m happy with bronze but just disappointed I didn’t turn up; it has been a big learning experience.”
