An unfortunate incident occurred at a Wells Fargo corporate office in Tempe, Arizona, where a 60-year-old employee, Denise Prudhomme, was found deceased at her cubicle desk after failing to clock out following her last shift on a Friday morning.
According to the Tempe Police Department, Prudhomme had scanned into the building at 7 a.m. on August 16 but did not have any further scans in or out of the building. Her body was discovered four days later by on-site security personnel, who reported a possible death in a cubicle on the third floor of the building.
Wells Fargo expressed deep sadness over the loss of Prudhomme and extended condolences to her family and loved ones. The company is reviewing its internal procedures related to employee safety and wellness in light of this tragic event and has made counselors available to support affected employees.
Some employees raised concerns about the delay in discovering Prudhomme's body, noting that the building had round-the-clock security presence. There were reports of a foul smell in the area where Prudhomme was found, but it was initially attributed to plumbing issues.
Wells Fargo clarified that the delay in notifying employees about Prudhomme's death was due to the need to inform her family first. The cause of Prudhomme's death is still pending investigation by the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner, although initial findings did not indicate any signs of foul play, according to the Tempe Police Department.
