'Well done, he's 13!' Neville Southall reunited with teen from viral Michael Owen video viewed a million times

Wales legend Neville Southall posted a picture on social media this week which will have transported many back in time.

Rewind to 1999 to when the goalkeeping great appeared on Michael Owen's Soccer Skills show and most will immediately know the most famous line from the session.

The video saw Owen, at the time British football's most outstanding talent, firing shots home against teenage goalkeeper Jamie Hutchinson, who became increasingly bamboozled by Owen's skills and finishing. Southall was offering the young stopper advice and encouragement all the way through.

The Liverpool youngster, 19 at the time, wasn't exactly humble about it though, which triggered Big Nev's famous line - "Well done, he's 13!"

Owen, who just the year before rose to superstardom after his wonder goal against Argentina in the World Cup for England, replied "game, set and match Owen".

Yesterday, Neville posted a picture of himself and Hutchinson 23 years after they appeared in the segment together.

"Look who I bumped into today. ‘Well done, he’s 13’ It’s Jamie from the Michael Owen Soccer Skills video," Nev wrote on Twitter. It seems the two will be appearing on Sky's Fantasy Football next month in a sketch that will no doubt be worth watching.

The original clip has been viewed more than a million times on YouTube. Owen went on to be crowned Ballon d'Or winner in 2001 and sealed a move to Real Madrid before injury hampered his career.

Speaking in 2016, via talkSPORT, Hutchinson said of his memories of the sketch: “Being the goalkeeper on a programme headlined by a striker wasn’t exactly ideal for me.

“It was made clear that it wouldn’t make good filming if the goalkeeper was saving all the shots taken by the other kids after they had been coached by Michael.”

In 207 he added: “I would 100 per cent love to film it again, with a pair of gloves that actually fit and me being able to touch the crossbar. Hopefully there’d be a better outcome”
