Welcome to Van Gogh Alive

Vincent Van Gogh's work is both spectacular and intimately revealing. In a career that lasted only 10 years, his painting styles shifted continuously to expose a volatile and changeable state of mind. Southeast Asia's largest digital art exhibition is set to take place in Thailand for the first time ever, until July 31, at the Attraction Hall on the 6th floor of Iconsiam.

Visitors are invited to dive deep into the world of art and the life of Van Gogh under the theme of "I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream". The exhibition is over a massive 4,120m², giving visitors an insight into his thoughts, emotions, and overall mentality during the period of 1880-1890. This journey is made possible through an extensive collection of more than 3,000 masterpieces, ranging from paintings and sketches to prints.

The digital art images will be showcased utilising Sensory4 technology, featuring a kaleidoscope projection on the floor and a massive wall of more than 6m in height. This awe-inspiring display is accompanied by cinematic surround sound music, creating an incredibly engaging experience.

Visitors can also experience the thrill of a simulation room showcasing the famous painting Bedroom Of Arles and immerse themselves in the artist's fantasy world across all dimensions at the Reality Art Space, connecting with their emotions along the way. The exquisite collection comprises of masterpieces such as The Starry Night, Café Terrace At Night, Night Coffee, Yellow House, Daubigny's Garden, Noon - Rest From Work and Wheat Field With Crows.

A special treat for Van Gogh fans, there will be an additional spectacular delight to be found in the "Van Gogh Café by After You". This cafe has created a dessert and drink menu that is exclusively available during the exhibition. Furthermore, there is an exclusive souvenir zone solely accessible at the "Van Gogh Alive Bangkok" event.

The exhibition is an experience of movements, accompanied by a musical score echoing his experiences and emotions at the time.

The Netherlands: Van Gogh's work during this period is stylistically dark, contrasting the vibrant style that would emerge in the years to come.

Paris: Inspired by the energy of Impressionist-era Paris, Van Gogh develops a brighter palette as his work transitions to the celebrated style for which he is best known.

Arles: Van Gogh's time in this southern-French region was perhaps the happiest of his life — for a time. However, this movement also exhibits Van Gogh's decline into mental illness.

Saint-Remy: During his voluntary commitment to the asylum at Saint-Remy, Van Gogh produces both tortured and peaceful landscapes, teetering between crisis and control.

Auvers-sur-Oise: Van Gogh's sense of emptiness is palpable in his haunting final works, offering a candid insight into the artist's emotional turmoil in his final days.

Self-portraits: A series of self-portraits painted throughout Van Gogh's career bookend the five movements of the experience, reflecting the changing emotional states of this brilliant yet troubled artist.

"Van Gogh Alive" is showing at the Attraction Hall, 6th floor of Iconsiam until  July 31, from 10.30am-9pm.  Ticket available via Thai Ticket Major cost B1,490 for VIP, B990 for general admission,  early bird tickets cost B690 (valid until April 30) and B480 for students.
