Welcome To The Updated InsideEVs

You may have noticed that InsideEVs looks a little different today. (At least, I certainly hope you did.) That's because our publication is different—and more than just a little bit, too.

What you're looking at is the fully redesigned InsideEVs for 2025, designed to be faster, sleeker, more modern and better-performing on your mobile device. You may not feel all the optimizations right away, but they are in place and they will get better over time too—and they give our development team the ability to add even more tools that I think you're going to love.

In the meantime, InsideEVs looks better today than it ever has.

The color scheme has been updated, the graphics have been refreshed, the menus function way better and it's going to be much easier to find collections of our best work and the top-performing stories of the day. Plus, the new heat pump should drastically help with cold-weather range and our Level 3 advanced driverless assistance system has already been approved for deployment in California and Nevada... okay, not those last two things. (Sorry. Habit.)

All of this is the culmination of more than a year of hard work from the Motorsport Network development crew, our graphic artists and designers, our teams in editorial, business, marketing and many, many more amazing folks. I'm grateful to everyone involved here because today InsideEVs truly looks worthy of our mission: to be the best publication anywhere dedicated to covering the rapidly transforming world of cars and the future of transportation.

And the redesign isn't the only change to how things work around here, either.

What's Next For 2025 And Beyond

When I started as Editor-in-Chief at InsideEVs about a year ago, my immediate goal was to grow the world-class editorial team that was already in place with groundbreaking new voices. Our aim was to target newcomers to the EV world: people considering their first or maybe second electric option, as well as anyone trying to understand the massive changes coming to the world of cars. After all, it can be confounding to try and understand how we're supposedly going from the gas-powered cars we've known for a century to the electric, connected and supposedly automated cars of tomorrow.

I'd like to think we've largely succeeded in that mission, at least so far. We've worked hard to explain the ins and outs of this ongoing transformation, to demystify EV sales trends without hype or bias, to break news and set the conversation with must-read stories. Over the past year alone, our team of staff writers and contributors has gone all over the world to understand what this current moment means for everyone, and not just shareholders or superfans of one car brand.

But reaching audiences in 2024 and beyond requires a lot more than just posting good stories and hoping people will show up. So we're about to make a lot more moves to reach EV newcomers, the EV-curious and close industry followers where they are with some big moves.

First and foremost, for all the fans and loyal listeners who demanded it: the InsideEVs Podcast is coming back. After going on hiatus earlier this year while we retooled the format, we have one we like and you'll be hearing it soon. Now called The Plugged-In Podcast From InsideEVs, my co-host Tim Levin and I will recap the week's biggest stories and interview special guests from across the auto industry.

You'll be able to catch clips and full episodes on our YouTube channel as before, but this time it's an audio-first effort. We expect to relaunch it in mid-November once the dust has settled from our big remodeling. Watch this space for updates but for now, make sure to subscribe on Apple PodcastsSpotify and everywhere else you get your podcasts.

Next, I'm thrilled to announce that Critical Materials, our daily must-read roundup of the biggest news in technology, mobility and transportation, will soon be an email newsletter as well. But this will go deeper than just sending that morning feature to your inbox: it's going to be an even more comprehensive look at the stories you need to know about to understand what's next. Make sure to sign up for updates here

Last but certainly not least, we have big plans to expand our video coverage over the course of the next year. From news recaps to car reviews and mini-documentaries, we're aiming to do more than ever before for viewers who want to go even deeper. Don't call it a "pivot"—this is all in addition to the great reporting and writing we do on InsideEVs every day. We're just laser-focused on bringing more of it to more people, and in new and different ways.

Are You In?

I certainly hope so. Because our goal is to cover this transition from all angles: software, infrastructure, consumer trends, new technologies, your household's bottom line and so much more. We've been enormously busy over the past year bringing you the stories from those worlds that matter most. Now, we have the best platform we've ever had to do it, and bold plans to tell those stories in new ways.

If you're in, I hope you'll follow us (if you aren't already) on Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Sign up for our daily newsletter and for more updates right here. And check in with us daily as we keep this party going.

I can certainly say this about the future: it won't be boring.
