Welcome to Plathville's Olivia Plath announces tragic death of her 15-year-old brother

Micah Meggs has died after being hit by a car while riding his electric bike, his heartbroken sister has confirmed.

The 15-year-old brother of Welcome to Plathville star Olivia Plath died at the scene on Thursday after he was struck by a Honda Accord in Franklin County, Virginia.

The driver of the Honda was not inured in the crash, police have confirmed.

Following the tragedy, Olivia took to her Instagram Story to say she would be "jumping off social media for a bit" and "taking some space" in order to grieve.

She added: "I lost a younger brother last night to an unexpected accident and I need some clarity and space for grieving."

In the incident, Micah was in the right southbound lane on the route US 220 when he was struck by the vehicle, police confirmed to The Roanoke Times.

The Honda was traveling south in the right lane of the same road.

The accident happened less than a mile north of Virginia 619 in Franklin County.

Micah is the ninth of Don and Karen Meggs' 10 children.

The teenager is survived by his parents, grandmothers, siblings Elijah, Joshua, Elise, Olivia, Lydia, Sophia, Nathan, Carris and Kirsten, and nieces and nephews.

In an obituary, his family described him as "fun loving" and said he "enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping".

"When he wasn’t outdoors, Micah loved to hang out with his siblings and a few close friends, playing practical jokes, sharing his understated sense of humor and bringing laughs to those he loved.

"Micah suffered his entire life from Cerebral Palsy caused by a Brachial Plexus injury during his birth which made it difficult for him to do the things he enjoyed so much.

"Despite the physical difficulties he experienced, Micah never complained or let himself be limited by his disability and continually found ways to pursue his outdoor activities despite this struggle," they wrote.

His family added: "Micah brought tremendous light, laughter and love into every life he touched and his presence will be greatly missed."
