Weird West returns for the Xbox Game Pass May 2023 lineup as five other games depart

The first wave of new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in May has been announced by Microsoft, but it comes at the cost of more games leaving the service.

A new month means a boatload of new titles coming in and out for Xbox Game Pass May 2023. Technically the proceedings have already begun with the arrival of Redfall on the service earlier this week, but the fun continues from tomorrow onwards. I will say there’s a severe lack of Star Wars games despite it being Thursday, May 4, but we can forgive Xbox for this stumble because the titles coming during the first half of May are an eclectic mix.

As per the Xbox Wire post, leading the pack for Xbox Game Pass May 2023 is Weird West: Definitive Edition on Monday, May 8. The game is an isometric RPG throwback that places you in the shoes of several characters amidst a darkly fantastical version of the wild west. Interestingly, Weird West has already been on Xbox Game Pass before, but the Definitive Edition brings with it 4K resolution and 60fps – something not previously possible in the original version.

Elsewhere you have fairy tale adventure story Ravenlok coming to Xbox Game Pass tomorrow on Thursday, May 4. Classic tabletop adventure game collection Shadowrun Trilogy hits PC Game Pass less than a week later on Tuesday, May 9, after already being available to subscribers on Xbox Series X|S. Rounding things off during the first half of the month (for now, anyway) is turn-based RPG Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 on Thursday, May 11 – another day one launch on the service.

Xbox Game Pass May 2023 lineup additions

Here’s the full breakdown of all four games joining the Xbox Game Pass May 2023 lineup:

  • Ravenlok (console, PC and cloud) – May 4
  • Weird West: Definitive Edition (console) – May 8
  • Shadowrun Trilogy (PC) – May 9
  • Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 (console, PC and cloud) – May 11

It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, however, as Microsoft has also revealed the batch of games we’ll soon be waving goodbye to. Luckily, there’s still a bit of time for you to check them out before they’re taken away.

Xbox Game Pass May 2023 lineup departures

Here’s the full list of titles leaving during Xbox Game Pass May 2023 on Monday, May 15.

  • My Friend Pedro (console, PC)
  • Before We Leave (console, PC)
  • Hearts of Iron 4 (PC)
  • Umurangi Generation Special Edition (console, PC)
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition (console, PC)

There’s a little less than two weeks until the five games above disappear. Be sure to download them to play before then (while you still can). There's always a small chance that certain titles will return, but it's never guaranteed.
