Weird-looking creature dubbed 'Frankenstein’s fish' caught by stunned fisherman

A deep-sea fisherman has shared an image of a weird-looking creature dubbed “Frankenstein’s fish” he caught in Russia.

Roman Fedortsov, a fisherman working on a trawler in Murmansk in the northwest part of Russia, has devoted his life to searching for creatures unknown.

He spends months of his life at sea, much to the delight of his 649K followers on Instagram@rfedortsov_official_account, where he often shares snaps of frightening looking creatures from the depths he’s found.

Recently, Roman shared an almost translucent catch with sweeping fins, a long thresher like tail, and a ghostly-looking eye.

The fish was covered in strange markings that made it look as if it had been sewn together.

The post racked up more than 5,000 likes.

Instagram users were captivated by the Frankenstein find, with one person saying: “I have been looking for this little guy for a few year in this waters, you are very lucky, it's magnificent.”

Many users were quick to liken the alien-like creature to cartoon characters, with one person saying: “Looks like a Pokemon."

Another user said: “Wow looks like a Cartoon Fish.”

Many budding oceanographers had their own guess at what this grizzly looking creature might be, with one person saying: “Hey! A Ghost Chimera! Also known as ghost sharks, rat fish, spookfish, and rabbit fish! I don't see pics of them too often.”

Other people were praising the modern Jacques Cousteau, with one adding: “I love seeing these wonderful creatures!”.

Roman’s other finds include a parasite that had latched onto a fish's eye, and another beastly creature which had spewed forth its stomach contents.

It seems the more grim the discovery, the more he captures imaginations.
