Weird and wonderful McDonald's menu items from around the world - McPoutine, Masala Burgers and more

If you've ever been on holiday abroad and visited an old faithful McDonald's, you'll know that dependent on the location, that they do things a little different.

While the UK has its own exclusive dishes such as the beloved Big Tasty, other countries also have their own unique and interesting McMenu items that are dished up day in, day out.

We've seen a lot of exciting new products come and go over the years at McDonald's across the UK and Ireland, like the Chicken Big Mac, Halloumi Fries, and more recently the Mighty McMuffin - but these all may seem quite dull when compared to the exclusives that other punters on foreign soil can grab from the fast food goliath.

So here, Chronicle Live takes a look at some of the wildest dishes that McDonald's serve up around the world.

Australia - Big Brekkie Burger

They do a lot of things different Down Under, but one of the things that McDonald's does right in our opinion is the Big Brekkie Burger. According to Macca's: "It starts with a warm, crisp hash brown, melting cheese, rasher bacon and a freshly cracked egg.

"Finished with a 100% Aussie beef patty and a generous dollop of BBQ sauce in between a toasted sesame seed bun."

Now doesn't that sound like an absolute cut above out McMuffins?

Price - $6.95 (Australian Dollars) / £3.94

Canada - McPoutine

While you would be right to imagine that maple syrup is one of Canada's finest exports, many will argue that you can't beat a bit of classic poutine. So it comes as no surprise that McDonald's across CA have their own version of the classic dish locked down and up for sale at an enticingly cheap price.

But what exactly is poutine? McDonalds CA describe their take as: "Rich and tasty gravy? Melty, mouth-watering cheese curds? On our World Famous Fries? You better believe it!"

In the North East we would probably just call it cheesy chips and gravy, it's funny how we all have our own names for things isn't it?

Price - $3.99 (Canadian Dollars) / £2.47

India - Dosa Masala Burger

India has not only one of the most flavoursome, but also cheapest menu items across the board in the Dosa Masala Burger. McDonald's India describes the burger itself as: "Turmeric-spiced mashed potato filling topped with fresh peas. Grilled and placed inside a soft whole wheat bun with a spicy molagapodi chutney mayo."

Definitely an abundance of classic Indian tastes - and it will only set you back the equivalent of 60p!

Price - Rs. 59 / 60p

Italy - Panzerotti

While you may be familiar with cheap and nasty microwaveable pizza pockets, McDonald's Italy takes a little more pride in their own twist on the quick and easy bite to eat. McDo Italy describes the product as: "A warm and racy heart to give you a moment of goodness. Panzerotti with 100% Italian tomato and mozzarella are a pleasure for the palate."

We would definitely be interested in finding out how it compares to similar store-bought products.

Price - 2.00 Euro / £1.77

Malaysia - Cookies and Cream Pie

Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted to hear that McDonald's Malaysia have conjured up the ultimate after dinner dessert - in the form of a Cookies and Cream Pie. All in all, an Oreo version of the classic Apple Pie that many McFoodies have grown fond of over the years.

A crispy chocolate outer shell, filled to the brim with a cream and chocolate filling - which oozes out from the very first bite to the last. Yum!

Price - RM5.19 / 97p

Philippines - Cheesy Eggdesal

One Philippine breakfast staple comes in the form of the Cheesy Eggdesal, which you'll only be able to find in the Asian country. McDonald's over there describes the dish as: "Melty cheese wrapped in a fluffy, folded egg, sandwiched between a soft, toasted pandesal bun."

A great way to start the day, who doesn't love a glorified egg and cheese toasty after all?

Price - ₱63.00 / 94p

Saudi Arabia - McArabia Chicken

Saudi's exclusive comes in the form of the McArabia Chicken. Described as: "Two Halal grilled chicken patties with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and flavourful garlic sauce held together by Arabic bread," it certainly is more than enough to get the mouth watering.

Now that the Toon has some Saudi connections, we could maybe start seeing the dish up North? Probably wishful thinking unfortunately...

Price - SR. 20.00 / £4.46
