The Liverpool City Region has seen positive Covid tests increase by three quarters.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the LCR had 9,970 infections in the week ending March 13 - that's 4,290 more positive tests than the previous week. It means the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure rose by exactly 75%. Three areas of the LCR saw their weekly infections increase by more than 90%. They were: 93% in Halton; 100% in Sefton; and, 98% in St Helens.
The three other areas of the city region also recorded huge rises in weekly infections. They were: 57% in Liverpool; 72% in Knowsley; and 67% in Wirral. Areas close to the city region border also recorded big jumps in positive tests. They were Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and West Lancs. And England overall had a jump of 67% in weekly tests.

Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 2,891 cases in the week ending March 13, which is 1,054 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 57%. The latest infection rate was 577.7 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 2,186 cases in the week ending March 13, which is 873 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 67%. The latest infection rate was 674.0 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 856 positive tests over the last week - that's 412 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 93% in Halton in the week ending March 13. The latest infection rate is 659.7 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,089 cases in the week ending March 13, which is 538 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 601.3 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 98%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 909 cases in the week ending March 13, which is 379 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 596.3 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 72%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 2,066 cases in the week ending March 13, which is a 1,034 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 748.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases rose by 100% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 9,997 positive tests over in the week ending March 13, which is 4,290 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change rose by 75%. The latest infection rate is 587.11 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,377 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 13, which is 663 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 93%. There was an infection rate of 657.60 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 2,549 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 13, which is 1,107 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 741.37 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage rose by 77% in cases.
England
In the week ending March 13, England recorded 373,083 coronavirus cases, which is 149,851 more cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage rise of 67% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 659.74 per 100,000 people.
