The Washington Commanders released their inactive list ahead of Sunday’s NFC East clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, and it could mean more trouble for the defense.
Defensive end James Smith-Williams, who starts in place of the injured Chase Young, is out with an abdomen injury. Starting cornerback William Jackson III, who was added to the injury report Saturday, is out with a back injury.
The Commanders elevated defensive end William Bradley-King and defensive tackle Benning Potoa’e from the practice squad Saturday to give the team depth amid the recent slew of injuries. At corner, two rookies in Christian Holmes and Tariq Castro-Fields should see plenty of action, along with second-year CB Rachad Wildgoose. Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste will start, and the Commanders believe the return of safety Kam Curl gives them flexibility in the secondary.
Defensive end Casey Toohill and defensive tackle Daniel Wise were ruled out Friday after being injured in the Week 2 loss to the Lions.
Here’s the full inactive list for the Commanders:
- DE James Smith-Williams
- CB William Jackson III
- QB Sam Howell
- TE Cole Turner
- G Chris Paul
- DE Casey Toohill
- DT Daniel Wise
The Eagles are healthy heading into Sunday’s game.
