A dog breeder had a secret double life as a drug dealer who conducted his trade with an encrypted phone, a court has heard.
Scott Bennett, 41, was snared after police became aware of animal welfare concerns at his company Platinum Pet Care and K9 Fertility in Strathaven, Lanarkshire.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard how detectives discovered cocaine with a street value of £23,000 and cannabis worth £49,250 after arriving at Bennett’s office.
Gangland torturer took cell knife fall after striking up close bond with Scots drug baron in jail
Gangland torturer Colin Coats has formed a close bond with drug baron Mark Richardson behind bars.
Killer Coats, 51, told prison chiefs that a knife found in cocaine dealer Richardson’s cell belonged to him. He confessed to owning the weapon after prison guards carried out a search in HMP Glenochil, near Stirling.
Sources say the pair have developed a relationship in the top-security prison. However, insiders cast doubt on Coats’ claim the weapon – found last month – belonged to him.
HMRC seize over two million 'illicit' cigarettes in Glasgow raid as two charged
Over two million suspected illicit cigarettes following a raid in Glasgow.
Two men have been charged with excise duty fraud after around 2.2 million cigarettes were discovered at a business unit in the city's southside on Monday, June 27.
HMRC officers searching the premises uncovered eight pallets of the product, believed to be worth £795,000 in lost duty.
Scotland could bake in early July heatwave as map shows hot air moving over Europe
Scotland could be set for a heatwave during the early part of July, according to forecasters.
The Met Office says that northern parts of the UK will continue to see a risk of showers during the early part of next week.
Experts say that hot air is currently isolated across southern Europe - but this could be set to shift later in the week.
Kings of Leon frontman halts gig after brawl erupts during Glasgow set
American rock band Kings of Leon was forced to stop a concert in Glasgow after a fight broke out during their set. Frontman Caleb Followill halted the band's performance of hit song 'Crawl' at the OVO Hydro on Tuesday when he spotted the disturbance in the crowd.
Clips from fans show the singer asking fans "Is it the bald guy kicking off?", as the crowd began to boo the interruption. Caleb later jokes "It's always the f****** guys, isn't it" as the audience cheered.
Eyewitnesses say one man was escorted out of the building by security before the band finished their set. One told Glasgow Live : "The fight broke out about 30 seconds before the band noticed the scuffle.
