Wedding planner kicks out guest for wearing white - before hearing scandalous gossip

We've all heard that wearing white to a wedding as a guest is one of the unwritten things that you just don't do - but not everyone has got the memo, as many continue to try and upstage the bride.

And one wedding planner has claimed she once had to kick a guest out of a wedding because they were wearing a floor-length white gown and the newlyweds had asked that she be removed.

Sadie Lane shared her story in two videos posted online, where she explained that she had been overseeing the wedding of two women and everything had been going smoothly up until the point where her boss told her that the brides were getting upset about the woman's dress and wanted her kicked out.

However, when Sadie approached the woman she realised she wasn't going to go quietly - and even insisted she would "never" have done that to a guest at her own wedding a few weeks prior.

In her second video, which was posted to her TikTok account @_sadielane, she claimed: "My boss gives me the orders and is like 'let me know when it's been handled because it's upsetting to the couple'. We wear headsets like J.Lo does in The Wedding Planner, and someone on the team was like 'I just tried to ask her and she shut me down, so good luck'.

"I spot her because she's in a pure white - not cream, not champagne, pure white - floor-length dress with long sleeves. In my lack of assertiveness, there's a part of me that has no idea what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm going to say. I actually just approached her and hoped that something would come out that worked.

"What I said to her was very nicely, 'I've been told you won't be staying for the rest of the evening'. She's p***ed and I just repeat back, 'I know you're not staying with us for the rest of the evening and my job now is to help you find your car, so I'm going to be with you until we get you into a car'.

"I don't know where this came from. I don't know if it was the right thing to say. But somehow it worked.

But she soon got the scoop on the guest (TIKTOK/_SADIELANE)

"I walk her and her husband back to their car, and the whole time she's like, 'I would never do this. I would never do this. I got married a couple of weeks ago. I would never kick someone out for wearing white'.

"She lives like a couple of miles away. She could have gone home and changed. She could have changed the situation."

After Sadie had eventually got the woman and her new husband - who was the cousin of one of the brides - to leave the wedding, she was then approached by another family member who asked if she'd like to know more about the woman.

Sadie then received the juicy gossip on the woman she'd just kicked out, as the family member told her she had sent an email to guests ahead of her own wedding a few weeks prior to make sure they didn't do anything to "distract from her day" - despite doing exactly that at someone else's ceremony.

Sadie added: "Once she drives away I go give my boss a thumbs up like 'it's been handled', and I was very proud of myself. Then a member of the family pulls me aside and is like, 'do you want to know this girl's story?'

"Obviously, yes, tell me everything.

"She married into the family a couple of weeks ago and before her wedding, she sent an email to the members of the family she was marrying into and said 'Don't forget, this is my day. Don't do anything to distract from my day'.

"And then that same b***h wore white to her new husband's cousin's wedding a couple of weeks later!"

Commenters on the videos were split, however, as some people thought it was "petty" of the brides to want someone removed from their wedding just for wearing a white dress.

But others defended the decision, saying it was "inconsiderate" of the woman not to take into account the feelings of the two people tying the knot.

One person said: "A woman wore a white dress to my wedding. It just seemed a bit tacky and desperate."

While another added: "People who say they don't care about the wearing white rule are just so inconsiderate."

But someone else disagreed, stating: "Seriously? What a petty reason to kick out a guest at your wedding."

Trying to explain in more detail, a fourth wrote: "For people curious, it's normally way less about wearing white and more the disrespect that comes from it. It's why you wore it, not the dress itself."
