An online car buying firm is to open a collection centre on a Morrisons supermarket car park.
We Buy Any Car have been granted planning permission this week by Bolton Council to build a prefabricated pod on the car park of the superstore at Lea Gate, Harwood.
The outlet will allow the collection and inspection of vehicles sold to the business by members of the public. Documents in support of the plans said: “The nature of the business operating from the site is such that customers are offered an online quotation for the sale of their vehicle which, if accepted, can be taken to a local purchasing point.
“No cars are sold from the site, all WeBuyAnyCar.com branches only purchase cars, and all cars are taken off site and sold at auction.
“Our online service allows for the agreement of a mutually convenient collection time at the site where inspection of the vehicle and agreement of the sale will occur.
“There is a maximum of 10 cars on a site at one time, however this is more likely to four to six on a normal day. The sold vehicles will remain in a parking space until collection.
“WeBuyAnyCar.com will ensure that there is always space available for appointments within 10 car parking spaces and therefore through regular collection there is no overspill on to adjoining areas of car park.”
Cars at the site will be removed by a vehicle transporter, which will collect the vehicles using Morrison’s service road and area and will not enter the public car park.
The pod will be built to the rear of existing parking bays to allow space to the front for customers and staff to leave the pod without entering directly into oncoming traffic. The firm said the new outlet would create two full time jobs.
Opening hours will be limited to between 8am to 8pm Mondays to Saturdays and 9am to 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
