A yellow weather warning for rain is coming into force for parts of Wales on Monday night. The Met Office has issued the warning and said that flooding of homes and businesses “is likely” in certain areas.
The yellow warning comes into force at 8pm on Monday and will be in place until 8am on Tuesday, and it covers the majority of England and eastern and central parts of Wales as well as parts of north Wales.
According to the Met Office, “a spell of heavy rain is expected overnight which may lead to some localised disruption”. This includes: “Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer, spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer, some interruption to power supplies and other services, and flooding of a few homes and businesses.”

As well as expected heavy rain, there is a separate yellow warning for wind in place across the same areas of Wales and England from midnight on Monday to 8am on Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, there is a further yellow warning for wind which will be in place all day - between 7am and 6pm - which affects different parts of Wales including Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy.
With regards to Wednesday’s warning, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: “A spell of very strong southerly or south-westerly winds will affect some western coastal areas during Wednesday. Gusts of 55-65 mph are expected, especially in exposed coastal locations, with some sudden strong gusts of wind possible at times. Some further heavy rain is also likely during Wednesday, especially across parts of SW Scotland, Cumbria and west Wales.”
