Weather forecast for the week ahead following the aftermath of twin storms

Last week the UK faced severe winds as both Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice caused chaos up and down the country.

The aftermath of Storm Dudley left over 1,000 homes in the region without power on Thursday, Metro services suspended due to a wall that had collapsed over the line and sites and landmarks temporarily closed their doors.

The region didn't have much time to clean up as Storm Eunice arrived with parts of County Durham covered in a blanket of snow on Friday morning while on Saturday the roof of an apartment building in Sunderland collapsed due to the strong gusts.

On Sunday, a heavy rain weather warning is still in place for parts of Northumberland and County Durham and will last until 6pm today.

Other parts of the UK were impacted by Storm Eunice as the roof of the O2 Arena in London was damaged – causing rapper Dave’s upcoming concerts to be postponed – and the spire of St Thomas Church in Wells, Somerset, crashed to the ground.

Looking at the weather for over the next few days, strong winds and wet weather are expected to stay for much of the next week however no weather warnings have been issued during the time of writing.
