Weather forecast as people expected to flock to Formby

This weekend is set to be a scorcher as people prepare to flock to beaches across Merseyside.

Daytrippers will flood the sandy dunes of the Sefton coast as the sun pours onto the golden grains of sand, with the coastal town expected to be filled to the brim with people. The forecast is looking good for Saturday in particular before the amber weather warning comes into effect on Monday going into Tuesday.

On Saturday, July 16, the morning will see sunny intervals with a light breeze from the north west. The temperature is expected to sit around 14-16C up until 10am where the temperature will then gradually rise.

The sun will stay out for people to soak up going into the afternoon as temperatures are expected to reach around 20C but the Met Office predicts that cloud will make its way over around 2pm before it becomes completely overcast around 4pm. The clouds will stay heading through the evening but the temperature will stay around the 20C mark into the night.

Sunday, July 17, is going to be a hotter day but the cloud looks as though it's going to be staying throughout the day. The Met Office predicts people will be waking up to an overcast morning but temperatures staying quite high through the night and into the morning.

It's expected to hit 21C at 10am, with temperatures then reaching 25C by 1pm and not dropping until it gets to the evening. The day will see a gentle breeze, similar to Saturday, but it's thought it will stay cloudy all day.
