Jeremy Hunt has issued a dire warning ahead of his financial statement which is due to take place later this week. The Chancellor of the Exchequer said everyone across the country will need to pay more in taxes to balance the books due to the current black hole in the UK economy’s finances.
In order to get the UK back on sound economic footing, the Tory MP said “sacrifices” will need to be made by everyone. Billions will have to be found in the statement, from cuts in funding to public services to raising taxes on the lowest earners in society.
Hunt hinted that those with the broadest shoulders will bear the burden for the mess. We’ve heard this before from the Tories, yet they fail time and time again, instead making sure their pals are spared tax rises.
The situation is dire but it wouldn’t be so bleak if it wasn’t for Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget that took the country to the edge due to its unfunded tax cuts for the richest in society.
The Tories claim they are the party of economic stability but all they have delivered is chaos.
This dreadful Tory government has no public mandate and it is abundantly clear they can’t be trusted to run the economy.
They caused the mess we’re in and now we all have to pay for it.
