'We've got Bruno in the middle.' Very few players can boast to have an effect on the Newcastle United faithful quite like the Brazilian in such a short space of time.
Bruno Guimaraes could be seen nodding along to the chant at Old Trafford with his father in the stands, and the Brazil midfielder included the chant in his post-match tweet. He was among the standout individuals against the Toffees in a workmanlike performance, but still he showed that touch of class that the Toon Army have become so accustomed to.
He went close to scoring what would have been one of the goals of the season, shortly after Miguel Almiron's opener. The Brazilian kick started the move with a backheel, playing some one touch, two touch football up the pitch before narrowly dragging a shot wide from just inside the Everton box.
It was a moment in the game where Eddie Howe's side were in the ascendency and could have increased their lead further. There was a moment prior to that with the Brazilian surrounded by Blue shirts in the heart of midfield, under the cosh, he turned out to safety with ease and simplicity.
There was something reminiscent of Hatem Ben Arfa in that moment, but the consistency of Guimaraes' performances are to be desired. The aforementioned French midfielder was and still is held in high regard, but he didn't consistently turn in displays of the highest level, like his Brazilian counterpart.
Even at a reported £40million transfer fee, that looks a steal for a player of his ilk. It's becoming incredibly difficult to not wax lyrical about the 24-year-old, especially with his best years ahead of him.
Under Eddie Howe, Newcastle United have become a different animal entirely, with Bruno at the heart of the project. Sure, the Magpies have had talismanic midfielders in the past but very few have quite got the club like Guimaraes.
It's clear to see why Real Madrid would be interested in the midfielder, his class on the pitch is clear of the vast majority in the Premier League. If he stays in England's top flight for years to come, there's no reason he can't be considered one of the all-time greats, if he carries on at this trajectory.
The Magpies squad will only improve, either through the transfer market of improving under Howe's tutoring. Away from the pitch, Guimaraes has taken the city to heart, bringing close friend and now West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta over to England last season.
There were question marks over how he would cope with the cold weather of the North East, but arriving in January in the manner he did, quickly dispelled that fear. Arriving on Tyneside unable to speak English - never mind the Geordie dialect - he's not shied away from interviews and has immersed himself in his new country.
He's undoubtedly Newcastle's best signing in the past ten years and will only get better. These are very exciting times at St. James' Park, with Bruno in the middle...
