We try Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl chocolate Santas and one stood out

It is chocolate galore in all the supermarkets currently because of course, it's Christmas! We tried chocolate Santas from Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons and community reporter Keimae Blake found the supermarkets with some gift-wrapped bargains!

Christmas is an exceptional excuse to have too much chocolate. Whether it be a selection box (mum if you're reading this, I’m not too old for a selection box) or those chocolate coins in the netted bags, you just can’t go wrong.

I’m more of a chocolate person than a sweet person so trying these chocolate Santas was right up my street. First of all, shout out to all four supermarkets because whilst I was walking around throughout the day, none of these hollow Christmas treats broke at all.

For all those that are about to say: all milk chocolate tastes the same… No it doesn’t!

With plenty of chocolate to spare afterwards, there was one which was reasonably priced and delicious.

First up is this bargain from Lidl. Before even trying this chocolate Santa, I was just impressed by the price.

The 150g chocolate Santa was just £0.85 for those with children in the family or want to buy chocolate in bulk over the holidays, get down to Lidl. When finally tasting this rather large Santa the chocolate tasted very subtle, it wasn’t too overpowering and it was quite bland but it’s one of those ones that you could eat all in one go without feeling full afterwards.

I rate this chocolate Santa from Lidl an 8.5/10.

Unlike my cheap and cheerful chocolate Santa from Lidl, this one from Tesco was £2.50. The chocolate is Lindt and I couldn’t find any Tesco own brand chocolate Santas on the shelves. This chocolate Santa isn’t any cheaper with a clubcard either and is the smallest chocolate Santa out of them all. The 125G piece of chocolate has a little bell attached to Santa’s belt which is a nice touch and I do like Lindt so I was looking forward to trying it.

If I was blindfolded, I would be able to tell that this was Lindt. As I bit Santa’s head off the smooth chocolate was heavenly.

The £2.50 Lindt chocolate Santa from Tesco was a 9/10 (Nottingham Post)

Even though all my chocolate Santas were hollow, this Lindt one from Tesco was thicker and anyone who likes Lindt knows how sickly it can get so unlike the Lidl one, I didn’t feel like I could eat it all at once. I rate my chocolate Santa from Tesco a 9/10.

Next up is my chocolate Santa from Morrisons. This Santa from Morrisons and my one from Aldi were the biggest out of them all at 175G, but which one was better?

The chocolate Santa from Morrisons was delightful, similarly to the Lindt chocolate, it was quite thick. As soon as I opened this Morrisons chocolate, I smelt the sweet smell of coco straight away and although sickly, it was 9/10.

Last but not least is this Aldi chocolate Santa, 14p more expensive than Lidl, this £0.99 Dairyfine chocolate was rich, smooth and wasn’t too sickly. I had no complaints.

This Dairyfine Aldi chocolate Santa tasted 10/10 (Nottingham Post)

This Aldi chocolate was 10/10 for me and reasonably priced although Lidl’s was cheaper. This hollow chocolate was bigger and in my opinion tasted better!

Merry Christmas everyone!
