We try Sherwood coffee shop with impressive reviews and it makes you feel like you're in Wonderland

Coffee lovers on the look out for one of the best places to try in Nottingham might come across a venue that's described as ‘a must for all coffee lovers’. Community reporter Keimae Blake visited the Orchid Cafe to see if it lived up to all the positive reviews.

With a thriving scene that includes Cafe Chino, The Bakehouse, The Pudding Pantry and The Crimson Tree, Sherwood has many coffee shops to choose from. The Orchid Cafe is one I had not tried before.. On arrival, I was taken aback by the aesthetic of the cafe. With chandeliers on the ceiling, plants, fairy lights and artwork on the walls, the cafe looked like a display.

Inside has calm and zen vibes and instantly puts me at ease. I was greeted by a friendly employee who took my order. I went for a regular Americano and to be naughty as this was at about 10am, a Lotus Biscoff Brownie which came to £5.10 - which I found to be affordable and fair. The lovely lady behind the counter asked if I’d like my brownie warmed up and then said she would bring it over when ready.

My coffee was served nice and hot along with a warmed up Lotus Biscoff brownie which was only £5.10 (Nottingham Post)

As I sat down, a woman with a dog walked out from the outdoor seating area and then, it was just me. I was delighted to see a fake, detailed flower sitting neatly in a vase on the table. My coffee and warmed up brownie was brought to me in no time. My coffee was piping hot and not too strong, my warmed Lotus Biscoff brownie was perfect.

The brownie wasn’t too sickly and had a spot on ratio of brownie and lotus spread. As I continued to take in the modern and stylist cafe, a regular came in as they waved to someone behind the counter.

As I continued to sip on my coffee, I texted a friend of mine and said ‘I have to take you to Orchid Cafe at some point,' so it’s safe to say I’ll definitely be coming back.

My experience in this wonderland type cafe was 10/10 with no complaints about my coffee and my food too. I left, happy whilst shaking bits of brownie off me.
