We try M&S, Aldi and Tesco Halloween cakes and price one is hardly a treat

It's spooky season! For all those who may be out this weekend looking for last minute Halloween treats or need to pick up a few bits for a Halloween party on Monday, we’ve tried cakes from three different branded supermarkets and one especially was heavenly as Keimae Blake reports…

If cake is involved, I’m there! And don’t worry, I didn’t eat all of these cakes; they were shared with neighbours.

When out looking for Halloween sweet treats, some were hard to find among all the Christmas stock but I got there in the end.

The Tesco Express in Bulwell on Jennison Street has a spooky selection of cupcakes which I just had to put in my basket. These scary looking Halloween cupcakes have nine in a pack.

They’re £5 at a regular price and £4 with a Tesco Clubcard. These Halloween cakes would be perfect for chocolate lovers.

They have an overload of icing on the top and when you bite into them, they’re filled with chocolatey sponge.

They’re quite sickly mind you but one won’t hurt. For those who may not be a fan of chocolate, these Tesco cakes have hidden centres: some with chocolate and some with jam - the best of both worlds!

The decorations deserve a 10/10 and the actual cake itself I’ll give a 7/10 because I could only have one!

Next, up is Aldi. Aldi was packed with Christmas stock but I did find a 4 pack of cupcakes for only £1.69.

Now, if I was having a Halloween party and needed a last minute display of cakes I think I’d be going to Aldi. You can’t go wrong with four cakes for £1.69!

These cakes would be perfect to have with a cup of tea after walking up and down the streets trick or treating. The cakes have just enough icing on the top of a crumby vanilla flavoured sponge cake with jam inside.

The price of these cakes alone deserves a 10/10 and the taste of them and decorations a 9/10! Last but not least is my favourite.

This M&S Halloween cake is £12 (Nottingham Post)

This double chocolate yummy mummy Colin the Caterpillar cake is £12. For a big group or Halloween party, If you don't think it's reasonable then there's the option to save your money and go to Aldi!

This cake however was all kinds of yummy. You have to like chocolate to have it!

The front of the cake had a white chocolate face and milk buttons for eyes. Cutting into the cake, you could see how chocolatey the middle was.

This cake had a yummy chocolatey filled centre! (Nottingham Post)

My first bite was heavenly, with the hard layers of white chocolate on the top and chocolate sponge with buttercream in the middle, this cake will be hard for many to share!

The price isn’t really a treat but the cake is. This M&S cake is a 10/10 from me!
