We tried the food at The Laurels and it's much better than your standard pub

The Laurels is located just off The Whitehall Road in Perrystown, Dublin 12 and we've heard the food on offer is a great reason to venture to this part of the city.

The bar also offers a cocktail menu which we were sure to sample as well. Between the delicious meals, great drinks and all-round good atmosphere, a visit to The Laurels comes highly recommended by us.

The traditional Irish pub, with its contemporary interior, goes beyond the standard pub menu to offer dishes such as Tempura Prawns, Arancini, Chicken and Chorizo Pasta and the Buttermilk Chicken Burger, as well as traditional pub favourites such as a beef burger, fish and chips and soup of the day.

The pub has been in business for over four decades now, securing its place among the local community as a go-to spot for a catch-up or a bit of casual dining.

Currently being run by the third generation of the Hughes family, it promises a top experience whether you're heading there for a couple of scoops or for a meal.

We first went for cocktails, opting for the Strawberry Daquiri and the Whiskey Sour which both made for quite enjoyable sipping.

When it was time for grub, we went for the Arancini, the Buttermilk Chicken Burger and the Thai Green Curry.

This food is far better than your standard fare. The Arancini was creamy in the middle with a light exterior. The Thai Green Curry was authentic and delicious with just the right amount of spice, and the chicken was succulent and crispy.

Moving onto dessert, we opted for the Apple Crumble and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The crumble was sweetly spiced and the pudding was lovely and moist.

Meanwhile, the service was prompt, lifting the experience from your standard pub to something beyond.

Manager Tom O'Neill told Dublin Live: "Six years ago, we took on the food ourselves and put a big investment into the kitchen.

"We have a great crew of staff here, staff that we kept on throughout the lockdowns because of the takeaway business we did as well."
