We recently told you about the hidden gem eatery squirrelled away on the Royal Mile that's earning rave reviews with tourists and influencers alike thanks to its incredible haggis, neeps and tatties.
Excited to try Scotland's national dish outwith the confines of the week around Burns Night, Edinburgh Live decided to head along to see if we agreed with the reviews.
So entering the door to the Scottish Storytelling centre just on the Royal Mile, we were treated by the vibrant green signage for The Haggis Box, the bustling wee food business which is now permanently based in the centre's cafe.

We plumped for the traditional version, though we had heard that the vegan version is just a nice, so we look forward to trying that next time.
Decently priced at a very affordable £9.50 (£1.50 for the sauce) the mound of haggis, neeps and tatties arrived smothered in the very appetising-looking whisky and mustard sauce (made using the triple distilled Auchentoshan single malt) and we quickly tucked in.
Now, this is haggis! One of the most underrated ingredients ever in or opinion, the spicy and crumbly haggis was heaped on top of creamy mashed potatoes and turnip making for a heady but delicious mix that was really well balanced.
Our only minor gripe was that we usually like more neep but were more than happy with the portions that we got. The whisky sauce was sweet, sharp and had a definite whisp of Scotland’s national drink.
We would have licked the bowl clean if the cafe wasn't so busy – we almost did it anyway.
We used to always say that there were only two ways to try haggis in this city - from either a fine dining restaurant or a chippy, but to be honest we’d happily now say there is only one and you'll find it at the Haggis Box.
