We tried Edinburgh's top breakfast according to TripAdvisor and it was amazing

An Edinburgh cafe has shot to the top of TripAdvisor for their quality breakfasts and unbeatable service - so of course, we had to try it ourselves.

Earlier this year, Edinburgh Live reported how Quinn's cafe in the city centre had been marked as the number one place to eat in Edinburgh, beating out hundreds of other restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Serving up traditional cafe grub, the swathes of five star reviews constantly noted how they had been extremely impressed with the fry-ups being whipped up in the kitchen.

With customers describing their visits as "amazing value for money" and "the best breakfast in Edinburgh", we headed down to see if it lived up to the reviews.

Despite getting to Quinn's for around 9.30am, the cosy cafe on West Port was already almost full, with a host of tables in getting their first meal of the day.

Also noted on the reviews was the warm and top notch service from owner Mike Quinn, who instantly greeted us when we arrived and got us sat down at a table while balancing taking orders and cooking them.

The cafe itself is warm, bright and smells amazing - if you weren't in the mood for a cooked breakfast before you go in, one whiff will definitely have you ordering the full Scottish.

With only Mike and one other member of staff in the cafe, we were surprised how quickly our orders were taken, and prepared, with us opting for the 'Full Breakfast' and the 'Small Breakfast', priced at £8.50 and £7.50.

After a short wait we were served up our dishes, with both looking delicious, and we got stuck in straight away.

To say we were impressed would be an understatement, with both breakfasts wolfed down at the speed of light, and all aspects from the bacon to the fried eggs cooked perfectly.

Throughout our meal, we were also checked up on regularly to make sure that everything was alright, which was great considering how busy the cafe was.

With our plates then cleared away, we spent a little time finishing our drinks before getting ready to walk off our feast, however that didn't stop us from picking up a huge slice of cake to take away for later.

Heading out feeling incredibly full, we were given a warm goodbye from staff, and can see why the cafe is making the top of the charts when it comes to reviews.

Maybe once a hidden gem, we get the feeling Quinn's won't be hidden for much longer, and can say without hesitation it's definitely worth a visit.
