We tried Boots' entire range of Christmas sandwiches and one 'tasted just like Christmas dinner'

It's almost November which means the countdown to Christmas is fully on and we're very excited!

With Christmas comes a variety of different festive sandwiches bound to get you in the Christmas spirit - in fact, there's so many different varieties we've pretty much lost count. Whether you're a classic turkey and stuffing fan or prefer something a little more cheesy like brie and cranberry - the options are endless.

We took one for the team and tried every single festive sandwich from Boots' entire sandwich range to save you a job. Options include a trio of turkey, stuffing and cranberry; ham coleslaw and ale chutney; and barbers cheddar and chutney.

Also on the menu was vegan turkey feast; pigs under blankets; turkey feast; and turkey, cranberry and stuffing. There could only be one winner, and we've got the verdict below.

Boots Christmas triple sandwich

Ham Coleslaw & Ale Chutney

Although this sandwich had seeded brown bread which I'm really not sure about, it actually worked so well with the ham, coleslaw and ale chutney. The ale chutney overpowered the rest but it balanced out nicely with the creaminess of the coleslaw.

I'd definitely say this was my second favourite out of the festive trio, but it still didn't blow me away. The ham could've had a bit more flavour and the coleslaw was a little bit soggy.

Barbers Cheddar & Chutney

Even though I'm a big festive sandwich fan, I wasn't convinced with this one at all. The white bread was weirdly sour and quite dry to taste.

I needed a drink to wash down the claggy bread and couldn't even finish the sandwich. It kind of reminded me of when you get pickles on a cheeseburger in McDonald's - but not in a good way!

This sandwich definitely wasn't for me because I'm not a big fan of chutney, but I'm sure any chutney lovers out there would appreciate the different flavours. Out of the three this was my least favourite.

Turkey Stuffing & Cranberry

This sandwich had seeded brown bread once again, so I was a little conscious that it was going to be dry, but it was far from it. It tasted just like a Christmas dinner, and a moist one at that.

The stuffing came in as a bit of an aftertaste but it tasted so good. This sandwich was basically the three best things about a Christmas dinner all mixed together, I'm sold!

Boots Turkey, Cranberry and Stuffing sandwich

This sandwich is part of Boots' Shapers range and it's low in saturated fat and comes in at 337 calories, which doesn't sound bad for a festive sandwich - but how does it taste? The packaging has a Christmassy look, decorated with stars and the word 'Joy'.

Inside, the sandwich looked pretty tasty too, with fairly thick slices of turkey, a deep red coloured cranberry sauce and some spinach adding a touch of festive green. The granary bread had a nice malty flavour and despite this being a 'healthier' choice sandwich, I thought it had plenty of flavour.

The turkey wasn't too dry and there was a thin spread of mayonnaise, which added creaminess and moisture. The cranberry sauce gave a touch of fruitiness, without being too sharp or sour and I loved the herby stuffing, which I think was the key to making it taste like a Christmas-style treat. It really was like the kind of sandwich I'd knock up with my festive leftovers on Boxing Day.

Boots Pigs under Blankets sandwich

I'm a real sucker for a festive sandwich, and usually get very giddy when I see them appearing on the shelves before Christmas. I've not really got a firm favourite but I usually like to go for the meatier ones like turkey and cranberry.

I'd never actually heard of a pigs under blanket sandwich before so I was really intrigued to see how the Boots one tasted. Although it was cold - less traditional for pigs in blankets - I had high hopes for the sandwich because it looked delicious in its packaging.

I absolutely love pigs in blankets, in fact, I'd go as far to say that they're the best part of a Christmas dinner. I took a bite into the sandwich and was pleasantly surprised, it was really delicious.

The only thing I will say is it was slightly on the dry side, but the flavours were still very festive and fabulous. The sausages had a bit of a premium taste to them which I was surprised about, but the bacon was slightly fatty.

My favourite part about the sandwich was the sage and onion mayo, it was really creamy and complemented the sausage and bacon so well. The onion chutney gave the sandwich a bit of extra flavour and it wasn't too overpowering either.

Boots Turkey Feast Sandwich

I'm not a massive fan of a Christmas sandwich. Although I absolutely love anything festive, I'm just not onboard with sticking cranberry on everything. So when I read that the Boot's Turkey Feast contained just that, I didn't know whether I was going to enjoy it.

The sandwich contains turkey breast, mayonnaise, cranberry chutney, smoke flavour sweet-cured bacon, pork sage and onion stuffing and fried onions between two slices of malted bread. It had a generous amount of filling and was definitely worth the £3.15 price.

Luckily for me, the sandwich wasn't overpowering with cranberry and passed the taste test. However, the texture of its filling was slightly off-putting. I found the turkey was quite tough and the stuffing became gloopy with the mayonnaise.

Boots Brie and Cranberry Sandwich

Unlike some of my colleagues, I'm a big fan of cranberry on a sandwich - especially if it's paired with brie. Every year, Marks and Spencer release some variation of a festive brie and cranberry sandwich so I was keen to see how Boots' compared.

Boots' Brie and Cranberry sandwich comes in festive green packaging, and comes in at 394 calories. Personally, I don't like to be reminded of calories in the run up to Christmas - 'tis the season for eating - so I'd prefer it if the design omitted the calorie count and just listed it on the back of the product, but I digress.

There's a generous serving of brie, teamed with a rich, sweet cranberry and port sauce on oatmeal bread. There's also a little spinach added in for good measure, ensuring the colours of the filling remain a festive red and green.

The flavours worked perfectly together and the sandwich was delicious and enjoyable from start to finish. It doesn't quite compare to Marks and Spencer's version, but there's really not much in it.

I'd absolutely pick this sandwich up again and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Boots Vegan No Turkey Feast

The Boots Vegan No Turkey Feast (Liverpool Echo)

I love anything festive, so the arrival of Christmas sandwiches in the shops never fails to excite me. In my opinion, Boots is the best place for meal deals, so I was keen to give its seasonal offerings a go.

I'm vegetarian, so opted for the Vegan No Turkey Feast. The sandwich is made on wholemeal bread and contains a generous amount of filling. I was really excited to try the sandwich and, after taking a bite, I was definitely pleasantly surprised.

The turkey substitute was nice and tasty, and I thought that the combination of the fillings went well together. I'm not usually a fan of cranberry sauce flavours, but I thought it made a nice addition to this sandwich.
