We tried a £2.59 Greggs Good to Go mystery bag and couldn’t believe how much we got

We tried a £2.59 Greggs Good to Go mystery bag and couldn’t believe how much we food got for the price.

On Friday afternoon we headed to the Greggs store on Easter Road at 4pm to pick up our £2.59 Good to Go Magic Bag, purchased online earlier in the day.

Greggs magic bags on the Good to Go app are very popular and have proved quite tricky to get over the last couple of weeks.

Luckily on Friday morning we managed to bag the last one in the city, which was from the Easter Road location.

The site is designed to reduce food waste works with restaurants and shops across the city to flog any left over stock that would be otherwise thrown away.

The app reduces waste and gives nifty shoppers the chance to bag a bargain. A number of independent businesses and well known franchises take part across Edinburgh including Starbucks, Costa, Bar Burrito and Shinsen Sushi.

If you've not come across it before, you pay in advance - it normally costs one third of the original price of the items - and collect your 'magic' bag at a certain time, with the exact contents being a surprise until you pick it up.

When we arrived to the bakery branch halfway down the Leith street, we went inside and showed our code on the app and were presented with a large white Greggs bag.

We got two pink jammy doughnuts, four sausage rolls, two pasties and a roast chicken, bacon and mayo baguette.

Although we were hoping for a couple of yum yums, we were absolutely delighted with the selection and thought it was a great bargain for £2.59.

The quality of the food was great, all of the pastries were soft and flaky, and the sandwich had fresh fillings including creamy mayo chicken and crunchy salad.

With a good to go bag part of the fun is not knowing what you might get, but you are also getting several baked goods for the price of one sandwich or meal deal.

If purchased through the week a Greggs magic bag could definitely cover a couple of days of lunches or just perfect for a tasty but cheap option to take to a picnic in the park.
