With the launch of new menu items at McDonald's, including a new permanent burger, we decided give them a taste test.
The new items available are the BBQ Bacon Stack, McCrispy Chicken and the Cadbury's Twirl McFlurry. The fast-food giant has also announced it will be adding mini potato waffles to the breakfast menu and Nacho Cheese wedges as a new side option.
The BBQ Bacon Stack came with beef, BBQ sauce, Pepper Jack cheese, bacon, onion, tomato and lettuce served in a poppy and sesame topped bun. It costs £5.49 for the individual burger.

The beef patties came as thin slices in the classic McDonald's style - it tasted like a more sophisticated Big Mac. The sauce had a sweet piquant flavour which was pleasantly complimented by the salad.
The bun was also impressive, the mix of sesame and poppy seeds heightened the flavour. The burger was actually quite filling and consistent with the quality one would come to expect from a McDonald's.
The other new items were quite disappointing, though.
The McCrispy Chicken, which is now a permanent menu item, came with a seasoned fried chicken portion with shredded lettuce and an orange mayonnaise sauce, served on a potato bun sesame seed bun. It costs £4.99 for the individual burger.
I felt like this burger fell short of my expectations. My hopes were raised simply by the appearance of the burger, the bun looked absolutely stunning with a quirky design like a bulki. These hopes were dashed by how dry the chicken tasted and it felt like there wasn't a lot going in the burger.
The salad felt meagre with only a small amount of lettuce and not other vegetables, plus there was nothing special about the sauce which resembled a burger sauce.
The Cadbury's Twirl McFlurry is the usual soft dairy ice cream, mixed with pieces of Twirl and milk chocolate sauce. It cost £1.69 - which seems very reasonable, although a standard McFlurry is 99p, nearly 70% cheaper.
It was very sweet and consistent with other McFlurry products. I could barely see or taste any pieces of Twirl, it just tasted like I was eating a milk chocolate McFlurry. It will hit the sweet spot but I'd sooner go with a more distinctive McFlurry, like the Oreo or Smarties offerings.
