We simulated Southampton vs Arsenal to get a score prediction at St Mary's

Arsenal could secure their ninth consecutive win in all competitions on Sunday when they face Southampton in the Premier League.

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table 10 games into the season, and depending on other results, the Gunners could potentially end the week seven points clear at the top of the league. The last league outing saw the Gunners pick up a 1-0 win in a tough match against Leeds.

Mikel Arteta's side remain on the road this weekend, with a trip to Southampton up next. The last meeting between these two sides saw the Saints bet Arsenal 1-0 at St. Mary's stadium, but a lot has changed since then.

Emile Smith-Rowe, Mohamed Elneny and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all set to miss the clash with Southampton through injury. So, can Arsenal keep up their fantastic winning run on Sunday?

We simulated the game to find out. To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the Gunners could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Xhaka, Partey, Odegaard.; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

As they have done all season, Arsenal impressed in the opening stages, with their slick passing moves and quick movement causing all sorts of problems for the hosts. It was a dominant start from the Gunners, and they took the lead after 15 minutes through Gabriel Jesus.

Bukayo Saka's cross into the box was headed clear at the near post by Mohamed Salisu, but Granit Xhaka showed great awareness to meet the clearance and keep the attack alive. The midfielder won the first header before driving into the box and finding Jesus, giving the striker the simple task of stroking past the 'keeper.

It was a brilliant display from Arsenal, and they scored twice in quick succession before the break to put themselves 3-0 up at halftime. Gabriel Martinelli scored both goals, the first with a stroke of luck as Gabriel's header from a corner struck the post before hitting the leg of Martinelli and trickling into the net.

The second was much tougher for the Brazilian to score, coming just three minutes after his first. Martin Odegaard received the ball just past the halfway line as he spotted the bursting run forward of Martinelli.

The midfielder picked out the winger with a ball over the top of the defender, and after one touch out of his feet, the Brazilian fired past the 'keeper at the near post to make it 3-0. The Gunners played much more conservatively in the second half, but they still managed to find the net once more as Saka got in on the act.

Xhaka found himself as the creator once again, with the Switzerland international surging into the box unmarked to meet Ben White's forward pass. The midfielder squared the ball to Saka on his left, and the winger curled his effort in at the near post to secure all three points.
