We simulated Manchester United vs Watford to get a score prediction

Manchester United will be looking to win their third league game in a row on Saturday as they host relegation-threatened Watford in the Premier League.

A 4-2 win for United against fierce rivals Leeds saw Ralf Rangnick's side remain fourth in the Premier League table, with the gap reduced to just one point by Arsenal in midweek after their 2-1 win over Wolves.

The reverse fixture between United and Watford saw United embarrassed as they lost 4-1 at Vicarage Road, a result which proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Scott McTominay is unavailable for the clash on Saturday due to illness, whilst Edinson Cavani is also absent through injury. Anthony Elanga looks to return to the starting XI after scoring off the bench in back-to-back games.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Man United vs Watford on Saturday and this is what happened...

Man United v Watford score predicted by simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22 but didn't select a team to control. We then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself to give us a score prediction.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; Fernandes, Matic, Pogba; Elanga, Ronaldo, Sancho.

We predict that the Hornets could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Foster; Femenia, Troost-Ekong, Kabasele, Kamara; Sissoko, Kayembe, Kucka; Sarr, King, Dennis.

United took full control of the game in the opening stages, carving out opportunities to score but were lacking that clinical touch. But the pressure from United continued, and a goal soon arrived with Paul Pogba finding the opener early on.

The Frenchman received the ball on the edge of the area on his right foot and after taking one touch out of his feet, Pogba curled a fantastic effort past the outstretched Ben Foster. But a quick counter-attack from Watford saw them create a great chance to equalise, though Emmanuel Dennis somehow fired over from close range.

The forward picked up the ball inside the box and charged towards goal but his effort was wild and it sailed harmlessly over the bar. United continued their relentless pressure in the attacking third and had many shots on goal, but Foster was equal to all of them as the goalkeeper's heroics kept the score at 1-0.

His best save came 20 minutes from the end when Cristiano Ronaldo produced a powerful effort from the edge of the box, but Foster did well to push the effort aimed towards the top corner away from the goal.

Despite Foster's collection of saves, United did enough to scrape past the Hornets and win 1-0 at Old Trafford.

FIFA 22 predicted final score: Manchester United 1-0 Watford

Here are the full-time match stats.

FT stats from Man United 1-0 Watford on FIFA 22 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 22 predicts that despite a dominant performance in which United claimed an xG value of 5.7, the home side could just scrape past Watford on Saturday with a 1-0 win thanks to a Pogba goal, with Rangnick's men struggling to be clinical in front of goal.
