We simulated Liverpool vs Newcastle to get a score prediction

After their thrashing of Bournemouth, Liverpool will be looking to carry momentum forward with a win against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

Worry and doubt over Liverpool 's poor start to the season seems to have disappeared after Liverpool's incredible 9-0 win at the weekend, with the Reds now looking to kick-start their season and push up the table. Roberto Firmino starred in the victory with two goals and three assists, whilst a Luis Diaz brace, a Chris Mepham own goal, and goals from Harvey Elliot, Fabio Carvalho, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk secured the emphatic win.

Jurgen Klopp 's side now return to Anfield just four days after their last appearance, this time facing an in-form Newcastle side. The Magpies are unbeaten so far this season, though Eddie Howe's side will be missing key players such as Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes on Wednesday.

Curtis Jones, Joel Matip and Caoimhin Kelleher all returned to training for the Reds this week, but it's unlikely that any of the trio will be risked on Wednesday. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Thiago, Calvin Ramsey and Darwin Nunez are guaranteed absentees, with the latter serving the final game of his three-match suspension.

So, could Liverpool continue their good form and hand Newcastle their first loss of the season on Wednesday? We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction...

Liverpool vs Newcastle score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 22 and updated the squads with the latest transfers. Due to FIFA 22 not having the latest kits, both sides lined up in the kits from the 2021/22 season.

We predict that Klopp's side could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Diaz.

We predict that the Magpies could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Willock, Longstaff, Joelinton; Almiron, Wood, Fraser.

The Reds started just like they did against Bournemouth - quick off the mark and looking dangerous in front of goal. Nick Pope made some great saves early on to deny Liverpool taking the lead, but he couldn't stop Mohamed Salah's long-range effort as the Reds went a goal ahead.

Firmino dropped deep to pick up the ball and drag Sven Botman out of position, allowing Salah a gap in the defence to target. Firmino picked out the Egyptian with a through ball, and the winger powered a brilliant, first-time effort into the top corner to put the Reds ahead.

Liverpool continued to control the game in the second half, but they seemed to have no luck against Pope in goal. The English 'keeper was producing a masterclass for the Magpies, denying Fabio Carvalho, Luis Diaz and Firmino multiple times to keep the score at 1-0.

After relentless pressure, Liverpool found the second and the match-winner in the 88th minute through Firmino. Salah cut in from the left and looked destined to shoot, but the forward slid the ball across to Firmino, and the Brazilian fired a great shot into the bottom corner.

FIFA 22 predicts that Liverpool could produce another fascinating performance against Newcastle, with a great display from Nick Pope denying the Reds a repeat of last week's 9-0 win against Bournemouth. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored in the 2-0 win, with Newcastle's 'keeper making 14 saves in the simulation.
